The predecessor of College of Mechanical ＆Electrical Engineering of Henan Agricultural University was the Teaching and Research Office of Agricultural Mechanization established in 1957 in Henan Agricultural College. The Sub-college of Agricultural Mechanization was found in 1960 and was renamed Department of Agricultural Mechanization in 1961, Department of Agricultural Engineering in 1985 and College of Mechanical &Electrical Engineering in 1993.

　　College of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering is the oldest multi-tier engineering college with rights to confer degree of doctor, master, bachelor and professional master in Henan Agriculture University.

　　The college has obtained the approval of national and established “post-doctoral research program of agricultural engineering”, “authorized doctorate-awarding unit of agricultural and biological environment and energy engineering”, “authorized masterate-awarding unit for class I discipline of agricultural engineering" and four authorized masterate-awarding units of class II discipline such as “authorized masterate-awarding units of agricultural mechanization, agricultural and biological environment and energy engineering, agricultural soil and water engineering ,and agricultural electrification & automation”.Meanwhile, the college also has rights to confer in-service graduate degree for teachers in universities and colleges, agriculture promotion masterate and engineering masterate.It has one key discipline of Ministry of Agriculture “agricultural and biological environment and energy engineering”, two key disciplines of Henan province “agricultural and biological environment and energy engineering” and “agricultural machinery engineering”.It has established six bachelor majors such as agricultural mechanization & automation, agricultural construcion environment & energy engineering, conmunications& transportation, manufacture,design & automation of machinery, electronic information engineering, and thermal energy & power engineering.In the midst, there is one provincial special major and three university special major. At present, there are more than 1800 persons of doctors, masters and undergraduates.

　　The college has 105 faculties, among which there are 9 professors, 29 associate professors, 6 doctoral supervisors, 25 master supervisors, 17 persons with doctor’s degree, 66% with master’s degree or above the degree, 3 experts obtaining the special allowance of State Council, 1 national-class cadre teacher, 5 provincial-support excellent experts, 7 provincial-class academic and technical leaders, 5 provincial-class cadre teachers, and all of them has formed a academic team with reasonable combination of professional title, age, educational background and structure.

　　The college has established 5 departments such as department of agricultural mechanization, department of energy and environment, department of communications and transportation, department of mechanical engineering , department of electrical engineering as well as one centre lab, one agricultural mechanization factory and one computer center.Supported by the college, key lab of rural renewable energy of Ministry of Agriculture and key lab of renewable energy of Henan province have been established. Four institutes have been established under the college such as modern agricultural furnishing, energy engineering, agricultural product logistics and electromechanical technology, as well as some platforms for teaching and scientific research such as Professional Skills Identification Station for Agricultural Special Types of Work of Ministry of State Labor and Social Security, Examination Station of Computer Information Technology of Ministry of State Labor and Social Security, Detect & Test Center for Products and Equipment Saving Firewood and Coal of Ministry of Agriculture, Vehicle Driver Training School Attached to Henan Agricultural University, Henan Longda Science & Trade Company.The college is the supervisory unit of Henan Agricultural Engineering Association and the director unit of Henan Renewable Energy Source Academy.

　　The college has insisted on the running idea of combining the “manufacturing, learning and research" in a long run and has formed bright research features of its own in the areas of renewable energy technology, agricultural furnishing and automation and traffic and transportation engineering.

　　In recent years, the college has undertaken more than 100 national and provincial key brainstorm project in science and technology such as the fund of national physical science, national “863” plan, national supporting plan, the fund of conversion of agricultural technological fruits, national Spark Plan. More than 600 academic theses have been vended on core journal home and abroad, and many of them have been accepted in SCI, EI and ISTP etc. It has more than 40 obtained national patents. In addition, It has played an active role in solving socioeconomic and “the three dimensional rural” problems faced by Henan. Many research fruits of it have been converted and applied, which has created remarkable social and economic benefit.

　　The college has successively established the relationship of academic communication and cooperation of scientific research with many foreign colleges and universities as well as research institutes such as Kansas State University and Louisiana State University in America, Leipsic Resource Research Institute in German, VTT Academy in Finland, Asian Institute of Technology and Chonbuk University in Korea.
